City receives award from Auditor-General for its clean audit
The Auditor-General, Mr. Terence Nombembe, today presented the City's Executive Mayor, Alderman Dan Plato, and Chief Financial Officer, Mike Richardson, with an award for receiving a clean audit for 2009/2010.
The Auditor-General commended the City for its outstanding governance and financial management which has been sustained over a long period, with unqualified audit reports for the past seven financial years. The award of a ‘clean audit' report is for a report without qualification or material matters of emphasis in the report and the City has had such for the past two years.
"The City of Cape Town strives to maintain a high level of integrity, efficiency and effectiveness in all of its administrative systems, processes, structures and delivery mechanisms. The City has consistently achieved these goals, receiving unqualified audits for seven consecutive years, maintaining a credit rating of Aa2.za, and constantly improving both its customer and staff satisfaction ratings," said Mayor Plato.
