ANC HAPPY WITH DEFENCE MINISTER LINDIWE SISULU'S HANDLING OF INTERIM COMMISSION REPORT
The African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) sub-committee on Peace and Stability yesterday (Monday, 13 September 2010) met at the ANC headquarters, Luthuli House, to deliberate on peace and stability issues facing the ANC-led government.
The sub-committee welcomed the drop in crime statistics and urged communities to continue working with law enforcement agencies to eradicate crime. The drop in crime has demonstrated that working together we can do more to create safer communities.
Among other issues, the sub-committee discussed the discourse involving Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Comrade Lindiwe Sisulu and the Chairperson of the Defence and Military Veterans Portfolio Committee, Comrade Mnyamezeli Booi, which has made its way to the public domain.
The sub-committee is satisfied with the manner in which Cde Lindiwe Sisulu has handled the recent Defence Interim Commission report. We want to reiterate our full support to her and the Defence Ministry. We believe that she has performed her duty with passion and integrity.
The sub-committee takes a dim view of ANC deployees who make premature public pronouncements on the Defence Interim Commission report before all due processes are concluded. We caution that such acts border on ill-discipline.
