ANC denies interfering in Jub Jub case

Jackson Mthembu refutes suggestion that party is trying to engineer political solution

ANC REFUTES ALLEGATIONS AS CONTAITNED IN THE STAR NEWSPAPER ARTICLE TITLED: JUB JUB'S BLOOD TEST SHOCK

The African National Congress (ANC) distances itself from the reported so-called "Political solution" and "interference" by the ANC in the case of Molemo Maarohanye (Jub Jub) and Themba Tshabalala, as reported in today's (19 April 2010) Star newspaper (see report).

We would also like to refute with contempt allegations of the involvement of any  ‘Senior ranking official of the ANC" in this case.

The ANC believes in the independence of the judiciary regardless of who the alleged transgressors are.  Consequently, the contrition that any individual or group might have made in the election campaign of the ANC nor their relations to the ANC has no bearing on the application, interpretation and the execution of the decisions of the our courts.

As the ANC, we have full confidence in our judicial system and its independence.

Statement issued by Jackson Mthembu, African National Congress National Spokesperson, April 19 2010
