ANC ECape rejects Zuma wives report

Party says resolution on only supporting one official wife was never adopted

ANC EASTERN CAPE REJECTS FALSE MEDIA REPORTS ABOUT PGC DISCUSSIONS

In response to the ongoing false media frenzy about our Eastern Cape PGC, allegedly having taken a resolution to have the costs of spousal support to the nation discussed at the ANC policy conference next week, we put it on record that there was no such a policy proposal from our PGC (see report).

As the ANC in the province we have not adopted such a resolution and we reject any insinuation that we did. Recommendations from Commissions are being put together to be consolidated by the Special PEC meeting. This is a personal attack against the President not a policy proposal of the ANC in the Eastern Cape.

While the PGC took a decision, delegating the PEC to consolidate reports from various commissions, so that we have consolidated PGC recommendations, there is nothing suggesting the spousal support as a recommendation from any commission.

The matter was reported by two newspapers in an unethical and unfair manner. What they did was to rely on their selfish sources and didn't even consider calling the ANC about the matter, to get our side of the story. We are used to their constant disregard of ethical journalism but we are worried that it appears to be a permanent feature when it comes to the ANC.

The ANC EC PEC will meet on Friday, as per the resolution of the PGC, to consolidate all recommendations from commissions. And these will be communicated to all ANC structures in the province and the media.

Once again, we call on Journalists and the public to wait for that report and information from one of the ANC's constitutional structures, the PEC and not to buy anything uttered by nameless sources.
