ANC expels Tshwane deputy secretary

Johannesburg - The ANC in Gauteng has expelled its Tshwane deputy secretary and member of the mayoral committee for roads, George Matjila, the provincial disciplinary committee (PDC) announced on Monday.
Matjila was charged with being the "mastermind" behind a plan to disrupt the ANC Youth League's Tshwane regional congress which took place at the Roodevallei conference centre in Pretoria in August 2014, PDC chairperson Mondli Gungubele said in a statement on the outcome of the case.
The motive behind the plan was to prevent the regional congress from proceeding because, in his view, a faction hostile to the regional leadership was going to emerge and destabilise the regional leadership.
"This problem has continued to rear its ugly head within the organisation and it is the considered view of the PDC that it should be rooted out," said Gungubele.
