ANC mayor of Laingsburg joins DA - Theuns Botha

Rokeya Meyer walked across with no demands, will not currently occupy official position

LAINGSBURG MAYOR JOINS DA

The Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape is very happy to welcome the Rokeya Meyer, the Mayor of Laingsburg, to the DA.  Mrs. Meyer has walked over from the ANC yesterday (4 April 2011) and is now a card carrying member of the DA.

She joined Mr. Anton Bredell, DA Western Cape Chairperson, today in Laingsburg, on his visit to the Central Karoo Constituency. Mrs Meyer will be campaigning hard in Ward 1, Laingsburg,  to rally support for the DA in the upcoming municipal elections.  She has walked over to the DA with no demands and will not currently occupy any official position.

The fact that another top official within the ANC has left the party and joined the DA ranks, is continuing proof of the growing disillusionment within the ANC.  The ANC's policy of poor service delivery, corruption, race politics and cadre deployment is a growing cause of discontent amongst its members.

Statement issued by Theuns Botha, DA Western Cape leader, April 5 2011
