ANC must come clean on race

Sefu Sekgala asks why white people can't be seen to disagree with black people

Who can dispute the fact that, our economy is still in the hands of White people. The vast wealth of the country is controlled by the minority White community. Is this news? No. We all know that this country's economy was build around the needs and aspirations of the White community. This is what the Nelson Mandela's, Steve Biko's and the rest of freedom fighters fought for.

I get the feeling some people pretend as if they are not aware of this situation, they are behaving like they just landed in South Africa with the Zuma administration and are amazed of what's happening in South Africa . I mention this because its clear that the ANC government is slowly getting frustrated by the fact that they are unable to transform the economy of South Africa, they are frustrated by the fact that they are failing to address the injustices of the past.

I'm not amazed that ANC approves of the reckless racial lingo assured by the flamboyant motor mouth president of its youth league. They fully approve of it because they never really called him to order, he is not going through any disciplinary action. For your information he has never gone through any formal disciplinary action within ANC. To consolidate its race based policy, immediately when the ANC heard of the Canadian refugee case, involving SA's Huntley, they never even tried to establish as to how that decision was made, they cried racism. How are we ever going to be taken seriously on the issues of race, if we make each and every issue a race issue?

Where are we going here, look at the Caster Semenya's story, senior ANC members cried racism including Malema. This people never even try to establish the facts. Who then can blame Canadian refugee board for their decision? Are we not sending out a message that we are indeed a racially based society? Or can we claim maybe that we are racially traumatized? If so Malema is then the last person who must speak on that trauma.

When Freedom Under Law (FUL) tries to challenge JSC decision on Hlophe; Ramaphosa, Ntsebeza and Moroka resigns, the question is? Is it because they where not consulted or is it because the Chairperson of FUL is white? If genuinely they where not consulted, why can't they battle that out in within FUL, why don't they challenge the board? I mean if they believe in the principles and values of FUL why didn't they deal with the issue on consultation internally? What is it really? I have a feeling that the ANC might have influenced them to resign. So every single dispute we deal with in South Africa today will be interpreted as racial, especially when a Black person disagrees with a White person, then a White person is automatically racist, because he disagrees with a Black person.

ANC must come out clearly on its race policy. What are we teaching our young ones? Where is the freedom of White people if they can't disagree with a Black person? And when I talk of white people, I talk about sober minded and non-racial White people. Why do we take the Worst of the white community and use them as a measuring stick, why don't we work on the foundation we laid of White people who have embraced our democracy. We are in charge of Government and if we fail to come up with programmes that can effectively redresses the imbalances of the past we must not blame all white people, as if crying racism will magically redress the imbalances of the past.

It is not a secret that, owners of major companies in SA are hesitant to embrace Black people in their companies. However, government must deal with this companies and not make the sins of these companies the sins of all white people. Generalization is a sign of failure or ignorance.

ANC must come out clearly on its race policy. Why is a coloured guy like Trevor Manuel unable to make it to the ANC's National Working Committee or the National Executive committee's officials? Why in this day in age ANC has no white person in its National Working Committee, no white person in its top 6. Even when the 2012 lobbying gets under way, there is no lobbying at all of a white person to hold a senior position. I have not heard of anyone lobbying for Trevor or anyone who is not black to be in the ANC's top 6. Julius Malema cries about the Economic cluster that has no indigenous black people, while his 8 member national ROB is all Black i.e. no Coloureds, Whites, Indians etc. What message are we sending to the private sector?

Could it be that, we are unintentionally telling the private sector that, don't worry we have the politics, please keep the business: Politics being black and business being white.

The fragmentation of South Africa into racial groups is not going to help us. We need to build on the Madiba legacy of the non-racial society. Our messages must build and not destroy.

We must start to say that, this democracy belongs to all of us regardless of political affiliation, regardless of race, sexual orientation etc.

Let us encourage the spirit of all races coming together and building this country. With those who are well of (Mostly Whites) understanding that its inhumane for a child to go to school under the tree, coming from a house with no water, electricity and sanitation and with those who are poor (Mostly Black) understanding that poverty is not something we must get use to, willing therefore to fight tooth and nail to get out of poverty.

A black and white child must relate easily without one seeing one as racist, we must create conducive environment for them to easily undo all of our wrongs.
