THE ANC STATEMENT ON THE FIRST NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON THE 11TH JANUARY 2013.
The National Executive Committee of the African National Congress met for the first time since the 53rd National Conference, on the 11th January 2013, in a one day meeting in Riverside Hotel in Durban North. The meeting was attended by all newly elected members of the NEC. Due to time constraints, the meeting was adjouned and will resume on Thursday to Friday the 17th to 18th January 2013 at Saint George Hotel in Tshwane.
Amongst issues discussed by the NEC meeting were the following; approve the January 8 NEC statement, the appointment of the National Spokesperson, appointment of NEC deployees to provinces, the appointment of NEC Sub-committees and their Chairpersons, election of the National Working Committee, the programme of action for the NEC and urgent issues that need attention of the NEC.
In accordance with the ANC Constitution the meeting considered and approved names for the NEC Sub Committees. Comrade Jackson Mthembu was re-appointed as the National Spokesperson. The following were elected as Chairpersons:
Communication and Media - Lindiwe Zulu
Education and Health - Naledi Pandor
Economic Transformatiion - Enoch Godongwana
International Relations - Obed Bapela
Legislature and Governance - NomaIndia Mfeketho
Organisation Building and Campaigns - Nomvula Mokonyane
Peace and Stability - Nosiviwe Maphisa-Nqakula
Political Education - Nathi Mthethwa
Social Transformation - Lindiwe Sisulu
Elections - Ngoako Ramathlodi
National Disciplinary Committee - Derek Hanekom
National Disciplinary Committee of Appeals - Jeff Radebe
Finance and Fundraising - Zweli Mkhize
Archives - Baleka Mbete
Policy - Jeff Radebe
