ANC on situation in Greater Harrismith

Community members raised concerns with delegation over deteriorating levels of service delivery in municipality

ANC STATEMENT ON THE SITUATION IN GREATER HARRISMITH

The African National Congress, represented by the Head of the Presidency and the Free State Interim Provincial Leadership on Thursday, 17th of June 2021 met with a delegation of the Greater Harrismith Community to attend to a spade of demonstrations.

The concerned community members brought to the attention of the ANC delegation amongst others, their concern on deteriorating levels of service delivery as well as the community's desire to he delinked from the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality.

The ANC delegation that have since given feedback to both the Presidency and Secretary General Office (SGO), characterised the engagements as being frank and honest.

The delegation also committed to meet the representatives of the Greater Harrismith Community on Sunday the 20th of June 2020 to map a way forward and a rollout plan.

As the leader of society, the ANC remains committed towards finding a long lasting solution and restoring normalcy in the area as is the case with all other communities with similar concerns throughout the country.
