ANC playing dirty tricks in Mogale City – DA

Party says secret meetings are taking place between ANC and unions with expectation that the unions will be asked to do their dirty work

ANC pulling dirty tricks in Mogale City

24 August 2016

The political environment in Mogale City has been poisoned by dirty tricks and the anti-democratic actions of the ANC.

Since a DA Mayor was elected in the municipality, the former ruling party has shown their desperation by spreading a message amongst their supporters and officials that their mayoral candidate, Bertha Mabe, will be installed as the mayor and that Cllr Lyn Pannall, who was democratically elected, will be removed.

In addition, they have approached a number of opposition councillors with offers of bribes in return for voting for the ANC. A number of councillors are feeling unsafe in this toxic environment.

Secret meetings are taking place between unions and the ANC and there is an expectation that the unions will be asked to do the dirty work of the ANC by going on strike.

Certain officials in the council are suddenly unavailable and one questions whether this is an attempt to frustrate the process of evaluating employment contracts and tenders.

The ANC is clearly planning to install their mayor by fair means or foul, as they may feel confident that their offers of bribes have fallen on fertile ground.

In light of the fact that there is an ANC Speaker in place, the DA and its voting partners can expect no protection from manipulation or any nefarious attempts to subvert the democratic process.

The DA is consulting with its legal advisers and preparing itself to prevent any undemocratic attempt at stealing power and therefore by-passing the will of the people.

It is because of arrogant and corrupt practices on the part of the former ruling party that they find themselves in this position. When will they ever learn?
