ANC secures clean sweep in 6 Tlokwe by-elections

Party says it now holds a majority of 30 seats on the 52 seat council

The people have spoken. ANC welcomes by-election results in Tlokwe

The African National Congress welcomes the results of the by-elections held on the 11th December 2013 in  Tlokwe, North West Province.The people have spoken. 6 wards were contested and all 6 were won by the ANC. Democracy has prevailed. The ANC now holds a majority of 30 seats in the 52 seat council thus restoring order and credibility to the Council. Repeated attempts by opportunistic elements to subvert the legitimate will of the people have failed.This resounding victory of the people lays to rest, once and for all, the exploitative political manoeuvrings by desperate forces within the Tlokwe Local Council. The time for work is now. 

The African National Congress is humbled and thanks the people of Tlokwe for their unwavering support.  With their votes, the people of Tlokwe unequivocally reaffirmed the African National Congress as their political home and the only organisation with the pedigree, capacity and vision to realise their aspirations for fundamental socio-economic transformation and a better life for all.

This is a responsibility bestowed upon by us history and whose attainment is our daily mission. The ANC calls upon all its deployees to, daily, live up to the confidence our people have shown in them. The sterling work we had already started must now continue under the government of people, the mission is to create a better life for all - in this quest we shall not fail. Working together, we must accelerate the pace of changing the lives of the people in Tlokwe for the better, delivering on our call for unity in action towards socio-economic freedom.
