The African National Congress has noted the resignation of Comrade Cassel Mathale as Premier of Limpopo today, 15 July 2013. Since his election in 2009, Comrade Mathale has executed the mandate bestowed upon the African National Congress by the people of Limpopo with dedication and commitment.

The African National Congress expresses its gratitude to him for the leadership role he played, as Head of the Provincial Executive, thus today leaving behind a prosperous, thriving and stable province notwithstanding some of the challenges experienced in recent times. Comrade Cassel Mathale is a long-serving member and leader of the African National Congress and we look forward to continue working with him in the service of our people in the future.

The African National Congress is confident that the Provincial Legislature will move with the necessary speed to fill the vacancy left by the departure of the Premier, ensuring there is no disruption in governance and delivery to our people.
