ANC trying to buy back COPE leaders

Breakaway says ‘OPERATION COME BACK HOME' is born of desperation

ANC LAUNCHES AN OPERATION TARGETED AT COPE LEADERS

A panic stricken ANC has launched a secret operation aimed at enticing members of the Congress of the People to return to their fold following the recent publication of elections polls and confidential surveys conducted on behalf of the ruling party.

"OPERATION COME BACK HOME" - a brainchild of Jeff Radebe - was agreed at the last NEC meeting to woo members of COPE back to the ANC. Subsequently, prominent and key local Cope leaders have been inundated with overtures from the ANC members who promise exorbitant salaries,  jobs in the public service and parastatals, cars, livelihood maintenance etc.

COPE condemns these desperate attempts by the ANC and is encouraged by the overwhelming rejection of these advances by our members. The launch of the latest campaign follows the failure of the ANC's strategy of parading scores of their own members and claim they were defectors from Cope.

The botched press announcement of the ANC last week, when they were thrown out of 702's offices after misleading the news radio station that they had news of ‘national importance', is just the tip of a desperate campaign.

This is another underhanded and morally bankrupt election tactic of the ANC to offer bribes to our members and leaders in the form of money and high paying positions and continues the ANC's well established tradition of cronyism and corruption. We will not succumb to these sleazy tactics.

This is one of the products of the ANC's war room to rubbish the COPE campaign. The ANC has dedicated a number of their leaders to canvass COPE leaders to come back to the ANC through luring with money and positions.

As the ANC sees its national support base being eroded as it's selfishness and political arrogance becomes increasingly obvious to the people of South Africa - they will continue these underhanded tactics.  These actions, supported by their illegal intelligence gathering capacity in KZA, will increase as we approach our national elections on April 22nd.

COPE calls on all South Africans to vote for hope and change now.
