RE: ANCWL CONDEMS IN THE STRONGEST POSSIBLE TERMS DISRUPTIONS AT THE CENTENARY
The ANC Women's League is shocked and appalled at the disgusting behaviour displayed by some rouge elements at the ANC centenary memorial lecture on former ANC President Sefako Mapogo Makgatho..
The disrespect shown for the African National Congress was a disgrace and the perpetrators should be ashamed of their actions. We should not allow these people who call themselves comrades to defame the ANC in anyway. ANCWL NEC took a decision that the ANCWL as a structure should approach the National disciplinary committee and demand that disciplinary steps be instituted against the perpetrators immediately and demand the harshest sanction against those responsible.
ANC members should respect events of the organisation and as a League of the ANC we are extremely upset as we form part of the organisation and therefore we feel disrespected by the actions of these criminals.
It's a shame that a journalist invited by the ANC to cover the event was injured in the raucous. We wish him a speedy recovery, and police must arrest those responsible for these criminal acts.
We call on all comrades to form a united front, we are one ANC and the disruptive actions displayed are an embarrassment to the organisation especially at an event celebrating our unity over 100 years. The ill discipline has got to a point where we don't even respect our forbearers who brought us to where we are today, under very difficult conditions. We are sure the Makgatho family, present at the event were ashamed by the disrespect shown for our former President as are the Women's League. "This ill discipline has just gone too far and must stop now unless we want to spit at the graves of those who made selfless sacrifices for us to be where we are today," said ANC WL President Angie Motshekga
The ANC WL condemn these actions in the strongest possible terms, and hope an incident of this nature will not happen again.
