ANCWL condemns killing of police officers

League says we need to encourage a spirit of ubuntu

The ANCWL Condemns Killings of Law Enforcers

The ANC Women League condemns the upsurge killings of women and men in blue who have dedicated their lives to serve and protect people of the Republic of South Africa.

As we commemorate the 68 lives that have passed on earlier in the year, whilst in and out their line of duty, we urge fellow South Africans to always remember, the loved ones left behind to heal open sore wounds of grief that may take years to fade.

The ANCWL does not condone the abuse of the community taking the law into their own hands but does however encourage the community to always take heed that; to protect and guard a human being is not only a duty given to the law enforcement but a social disposition for all members of the community.

The ANCWL celebrates the Heritage month, taking note of the culture instilled in the freedom charter that states that all shall have the right to security and comfort.

We therefore need to encourage a spirit of Ubuntu amongst each other that we had, when many of our comrades fled for safety at another’s home when former predators worked day and night to try and erase our God given race.

This is a conscious call to all human kind to make aware that we cannot achieve a country free from abuse, crime, corruption, killings if we all do not take part in standing against the social ills and injustices of this country.

An attack to police officers is an attack to the authority of the state and the nation.

We should not allow ourselves to be our very own enemy, and believe for a second that we are not one and not in need to carry each other forward.

Just as our foremothers took to the streets of Tshwane to the Union Buildings in 1956 all in one race and united, leaving their loved ones behind for the liberation we gladly endure.

The ANCWL would like to thank and honour the lives of the fallen heroes and heroines who have laid down their lives in a course to protect and serve the helpless.

Robalang mo Kagisong.
