ANCYL clarifies Malema's 'ANC night club' remarks

DA govt can't curtail right of black people to own nightclubs in predominantly white territory

ANC YOUTH LEAGUE PRESIDENT'S STATEMENT AT THE LAUNCH OF ZAR LOUNGE IN CAPE TOWN

Most South African Daily Newspapers reported on the 31st of January 2011 that ANC Youth League President Julius Malema said the recently launched ZAR Lounge in Cape Town belongs to the ANC. Contrary to what is reported, the ANC Youth League President said that the freedom and right for black people to own a Club in a predominantly white territory is freedom and right that came because of the ANC. He then made an emphasis that even the reactionary DA government cannot curtail that right because it's now entrenched in our Constitution.

The ANC Youth League and its President Julius Malema fully agree with the ANC that "it has no interest in running a nightclub or in endorsing its owners. The ANC is not into nightclubs or partying, but it is a revolutionary movement". We further do not agree with serving of any kind of food on human bodies and have in expressed this sentiment publicly in the past. This should however not undermine and rubbish that successful, young black entrepreneurs are breaking new ground and engaging in efforts that will lead to greater social relations across racial lines.
