ANCYL must respect ANC discipline - ANC KZN

PEC expresses disappointment with NEC members who commented on NDC outcomes

ANC KZN Provincial Executive Committee Statement

The ANC KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Executive Committee held a very successful meeting at Durban's Jewish Hall on March 5, 2012. The Provincial Chairperson, Cde Zweli Mkhize set the tone of the meeting through his political overview, which covered the political evaluation of the Greater KwaDukuza and Ukhahlamba regional conferences; emphasising the culture of unity and discipline in the movement; importance of the public participation during the ANC policy discussions processes in our branches and many other issues.

The ANC is the only organisation in South Africa that allows the general members of the society to input in its policy direction. The release of the ANC discussion documents is a clear indication of the mass base character of the ANC and a democratic organisation. The PEC encourages members of public to contribute meaningfully to the discussion process and shaping up the ANC policy direction. It is the time for stopping criticism of the ANC; and to start exploring implementable solutions in bettering the life of our people.

On Centenary celebrations

The centenary celebrations are on cause as we celebrate the contributions of President M. Mahabane. The lecture on President Mahabane will be in Abaqulusi Region in Ophuzane Primary School, Paulpietersburg on the 10th March 2012 at 11h00.

The Centenary Flame is coming into KZN next month. The ANC has scheduled a media briefing on the 27th March 2012 to thoroughly update and release the programme for the month of April.

On ANC Regional Conference

The PEC discussed the progress report on the preparation of the Provincial Conference that is scheduled for May 2012 in Newcastle. The preparation process of finalising the regional conference in March is practical as only two regions that are outstanding. The Moses Mabhida region will go to its conference this weekend and the eThekwini region the following week.

Branches from both regions have passed the audit, so are ready for the ANC conference.

The PEC re-emphasised its disapproval of the ill-discipline tendencies leading to conferences. The PEC calls for all members who discussed the internal process through public platforms to be taken into a disciplinary process. The issue of the using money in influencing the leadership outcome, factions and other foreign tendencies are practices that create disunity in the organisation. The PEC congratulated those regions who went to their regional conferences without any major hiccups. The UKhahlamba conference resolved to fight against the negative tendencies in the organisation and strengthen the working relationship with the NFP which was a vital resolution in ensuring service delivery is not disturbed.

On ANC National Disciplinary Process

The PEC raised its disappointment of some leaders of the ANC who commented on the disciplinary process and outcomes on public platforms. The PEC sends a strong message to all members who commented on the National disciplinary decision whether in favour or against as a sign of ill-discipline. The issue of Disciplinary process in the ANC is the matter of Disciplinary Committee. We are disappointed with some ANC NEC members who commented on the disciplinary committee outcomes before the matter was reported to the NEC.

The PEC wants to send a strong message to all ANC members including the ANCYL members to respect the ANC procedures and discipline. The disciplinary process should remain an internal matter in the ANC without discussing them outside the structures of the organisation.

On working relationship with ANC and NFP

The PEC received the progress report, which elaborated on the state of the relationship. The PEC agreed to ensure the relationship needs to strengthened hence the PEC approves the PEC's team to assist the regional teams to resolve any differences that might simmering in municipalities. The relationship has no problem but the major issue is the management of the relationship from both parties.

The working relationship is only those municipalities where there is no majority winner hence partnerships were to ensure that service delivery is not affected. We are convinced that the provincial support to municipalities with difficulties will yield results and ensure that there is stability.
