Andile Lili must withdraw 'kill criminals' call - Patricia de Lille

DA WCape leader says her party will lay charges if the Ses’khona leader does not do this

Lili must withdraw incitement or face charge

29 July 2015

The Leader of Ses’khona and executive member of the Western Cape ANC, Andile Lili, must withdraw the call he made yesterday for mob justice in our neighbourhoods (see News24 report).

If he does not withdraw his statements, the DA will lay a charge against him of inciting violence.

The DA also calls on the ANC to unequivocally reject Mr Lili’s statements, or be seen to agree with it.

In a country where crime and violence is so prevalent, Mr Lili has shown shocking negligence and recklessness.

As long as violence is seen as a solution, the people of South Africa will continue to face the risk of a violent society.

Mr Lili’s has a history of unlawful conduct and incitement. He serves no one in the community, especially not the poorest.

His latest remarks also show an overall disrespect for our justice system.

Where the DA governs, we are implementing programs to make our communities safer by eradicating violence, crime and gangsterism.

The DA will give Mr Lili until the end of the day to withdraw his statements. If he does not, we will continue to lay a charge.
