NUM Condemns attack on its chairperson

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has learnt with shock the attack on its branch chairperson at Angloplatinum' s Khomanani branch on Friday night where his house was petrol bombed. He escaped with serious injuries and has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of a local hospital. The National Union of Mineworkers appeals to the law enforcement agencies to move with speed on the investigation and arrest of those responsible. The NUM condemns the attack and the continuous threats and intimidation on its members around the platinum belt. The union calls on the police to investigate the existence of what is reported to be a hit squad in the area targeting mainly the NUM shop stewards and branch leaders.
