ActionSA welcomes the arrest of ANC MPL in Limpopo, Tolly Mashamaite

In a statement issued by the Police yesterday, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo states that, “Tolly Mashamaite, aged 47 and Bafhundzi Mhlabisi aged 63, were arrested in Mokopane yesterday on Monday 06 March 2023. They appeared in Mokopane Magistrate Court today and were remanded in custody”.

This case is in connection with the killings of the Mogalakwena Municipality Councillors, Valtyn Kekana and Ralph Kanyane, in July 2019.

Tolly Mashamaite is a member of the Limpopo Legislature and a former Regional Secretary of the ANC in Waterberg Region. That an honourable member of the Legislature is sitting in jail today accused of murder is unprecedented. This is nothing but the contamination of our democratic institutions by ANC fraudsters, criminals and now possibly murderers.

Indeed, we need to reiterate that the former liberation movement of South Africa has turned into one criminal enterprise masquerading as a ruling party.

As ActionSA we demand that the criminal justice system of this country must never fail the family and friends of both Kekana and Kanyane. The criminal suspects must be processed as quickly as possible and be sent to jail as they are not fit to live with normal human beings nor be the leaders of society.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

Although we remain doubtful that the ruling party has any ethical leaders remaining in its ranks, we urge the ruling party to send men and women of good character to our legislatures and councils in order to avoid this unfortunate situation where honourable members end up in court for heinous crimes.
