EFF welcomes the arrests of former Transnet executives in relation to the R93 million fraud
29 August 2022
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) welcomes the Hawk's and National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) announcement today, of the arrest of individuals who are believed to be in connection with a R93 million
corruption and fraud case. Transnet's Former Group Chief Executive Brian Molefe, and the Former Finance Chief Anoj Singh were part of the four arrested this morning.
The EFF reiterates its calls for individuals linked to state capture to be criminally charged. This includes not only individuals who were implicated and formed part of the executive management, but those in the public service as well as private sector actors, who played a role in compromising the integrity of State-Owned Enterprises.
Corruption in the public sector is not possible without the active role of the private sector, and any prosecution which does not appreciate this fact will never uproot corrupt activity in South Africa.
