EFF statement on the cabinet decision to fight Gupta wars and call on banks to open criminal charges against the corrupt family
2 September 2016
The Economic Freedom Fighters notes that South Africa’s cabinet has taken a decision to formally ask Mr Jacob Zuma to set up a judicial inquiry to investigate auditing firms and banks that closed the account of the corrupt and parasitic-bourgeois Gupta family, whose businesses thrive due to control of Mr. Zuma, his family and now a considerable number of Ministers.
At the forefront of this inquiry is the Gupta Minister of Mineral Resources, Mosebenzi Zwane who for some time has been in the pockets and control of the Gupta family. Mosebenzi Zwane is a Gupta Minister who gave the Guptas linked companies the R570 million dairy project in the Free State, which was later found by national treasury to be irregular and awarded through faulty and possibly corrupt procurement procedure and practice.
The dairy project came as a result of Mosebenzi Zwane’s visit to India and building of formal relations with Gupta linked companies and was implemented despite the fact that there was no feasibility study and nor were the supply chain procedures followed. When they wanted to hold a private wedding in South Africa and use the Waterkloof airbase, the Guptas used Mosebenzi Zwane to write a letter inviting the Gupta family to South Africa on the pretext that they are visiting for government related purposes. Mosebenzi Zwane is the one who wrote and signed a letter to claim that he invited the Gupta family to South Africa and his letter was part of the attempts to justify the illegal landing of the Guptas aircraft at the Waterkloof airbase.
It is therefore not a surprise that Mosebenzi Zwane is the one who is at the forefront of using cabinet and the puppet president to fight Gupta wars. Mosebenzi Zwane and Des Van Rooyen are direct Gupta deployees to Cabinet and their recent rants and statements are instructions of the Gupta family, which is savagely using its power to protect its corrupt empire.
