Cat scan at Bara out of action for a month - Jack Bloom

DA MPL says machine has not been repaired due to a dispute with service provider

BROKEN CAT SCAN AT BARA HOSPITAL

Hundreds of patients are suffering at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital because a CT scanner has been broken for more than a month.

This is leading to delays in treatment as this machine is normally used to diagnose about 30 patients a day.

It appears that the machine has not been repaired because of a dispute with the service provider.

An anaesthetic machine used to keep young children still when they have an MRI scan is also broken.

It is very disappointing that broken machines are still not being repaired speedily at this hospital.

Urgent action is needed to repair these machines, as well as effective measures to correct the mismanagement that continues to plague this hospital.
