Chief Justice thanked for service to South Africa – IFP

Party say Mogoeng Mogoeng rose to the challenge placed before him when he was elected as head of judiciary

IFP thanks Chief Justice for service to South Africa

11 October 2021

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) would like to acknowledge the role and contribution of Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, as he concludes his term of office today.

Chief Justice Mogoeng is the fourth Chief Justice of South Africa’s democratic dispensation. The IFP would like to thank him for his service to the country, and to the people of South Africa. We would further like to acknowledge the reforms in the Judiciary, as well as the management thereof, which were implemented during his tenure at the Constitutional Court.

Chief Justice Mogoeng rose to the challenge placed before him when he was elected as the head of the Judiciary in 2011, and has set the bar high for those who will follow in his footsteps.

The country owes Chief Justice Mogoeng a huge debt of gratitude, and we would like to wish him well in his future endeavours.

We trust that the fifth Chief Justice – yet to be appointed – will be a fit and proper person of integrity, a champion of the Rule of Law, and a true patriot, who will not allow themselves to be swayed by outside influences. A Chief Justice must always view the Constitution and the Bill of Rights as the ‘true North’, and hold true to the separation of powers between the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary, delivering their judgments without fear or favour.
