CIPRO issues new fraud alert

Office warns public against using 'agents' operating outside Sunnyside HQ

SPECIAL NOTICE

"FRAUD ALERT"

CIPRO is aware that there are some self styled "CIPRO agents" operating around the CIPRO offices. These so-called "agents" create the impression that they can process the transactions faster and they charge exorbitant amounts. Kindly note that CIPRO does not have agents and therefore these people do not have any formal relationship with CIPRO.

This offer of assistance by these so-called "agents" applies in most instances to the processing of new close corporations and related transactions. This practice may increase during the Festive Season. Kindly be informed that above mentioned agents are not acting on behalf of CIPRO, as the organisation's employees can only assist customers at the Customer Interface Unit (CIU) and not in the internal streets or outside of the dti Campus. Customers are advised that the registration of a new close corporation will cost only Ri 50.00 at CIPRO. All other fees are payable as prescribed.

As CIPRO customers, kindly be advised not to fall prey to unscrupulous characters. Furthermore. customers are also urged to avoid paying bribes to employees who promise that they will fast track their registration. On the street, there are agents" who sell "accounting letters". This is not an acceptable professional practice. Should you need a valid accounting Letter, please request CIPRO employees to provide a list of institutes of accounting professionals.

Fraudulent acts are punishable by law and customers are encouraged to report suspicious behavior to the following email address: fraudalert.cipro.qov.za or by clicking on the link: "Alert CIPRO about suspected fraudulent activities" on the CIPRO homepage - www.cipro.gov.za
