FRONT NATIONAL hopeful for positive outcome in urgent medical parole appeal for Derby-Lewis
An urgent appeal for medical parole on behalf of Clive Derby-Lewis will be heard in the Gauteng North High Court tomorrow, 2 December 2014 at 10:00. The legal representatives will argue that administrative incompetence on the part of the Department of Correctional Services is the root cause of the rapid decline in the health condition of Derby-Lewis, who is suffering from, amongst other, cancer of the lung.
Front National is hopeful for a positive outcome.
The treatment Derby-Lewis has received from prison authorities is under investigation by the South African Human Rights Commission. Derby-Lewis is currently the world's oldest political prisoner and had already served 22 years of a life sentence for his part in the assassination of the Communist Revolutionary leader, Chris Hani.
