COPE on MP Dirk Feldman's detention

Congress of the People (COPE) regrets and feels sorry about an incident where COPE MP Mr. Dirk Feldman allegedly tried to open the door of an SAA plane to India (see Beeld report).

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Max Sisulu, and the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Mr Mninwa Mahlangu, have since ordered, Mr Feldman, a Member of a Parliamentary delegation to India to go back home.

We await a full report on the accident from Mr Mahlangu's office and will act once such a report is made available.

COPE will however not tolerate any misconduct by its Members of Parliament or general membership.

Statement issued by Mr. Dennis Bloem MP, COPE Chief Whip NCOP, July 9 2012
