Women's Movement backs Shilowa as presidential candidate

COPE WOMENS MOVEMENT ENDORSE NATIONAL CONGRESS

The COPE national Women's Movements have thrown their weight behind preparations for the COPE national congress scheduled for 27 - 30 May 2010. The Women's Movement met today to express their views about the preparations for the upcoming conference. According to the credentials report adopted by the CNC last weekend the Womens' movement is entitled to forty delegates at the upcoming conference.

With the assistance of the Electoral Institute of Southern Africa. (EISA) nominations were conducted for the national congress giving the delegation of the movement a mandate. The forum decided on the following nominees for the COPE national elections:

President - Mbhazima Shilowa
First Deputy President - Charlotte Lobe
Second Deputy President - Mluleki George
General Secretary - Mvume Dandala
Treasurer - Lolo Mashiane
Head of Policy - lyndoll Shope
Head of Communications - JJ Tabane
Head of International - Nolitha Vukuza
Head organizing - Neville Mompati

Speaking after the conference the convenor Kiki Rexwana said that "the Women's forum support the continuation of the conference for COPE to determine its future, It is crucial that we give the people of South African renewed hope for an alternative government".
