COSAS KZN MEDIA STATEMENT
On the 11- 13th of March 2011 the PEC of COSAS, KZN have sat debated numerous issues and resolved on the following:
We have noted the introduction of HIV testing campaign (HTC) and on basis of the stigma, attached to the HIV testing, the society is still mistreats people with AIDS, most young people cant cope with pressure of knowing that they have tested positive and suicide is the only way they take and it will increase failing rate and there will be more drop outs, thus we can't take chances. The PEC is strongly against this programme.
We have also resolved that in this local government elections we strongly believe that the ANC is still representing views of the common South African people and is continuing to transform lives of South Africans as a whole. On those bases we resolved to support, organize and rally our membership and parents to vote for ANC.
COSAS KwaZulu Natal have noted with contentment the reinstatement of more than 2000 temporary teachers and will continue to be a support such progress, as it will half the work load to the teachers. After lengthy an careful analysis we have noted with sadness the behavioral mode of School Governing Bodies as they are weak and to an extent they are turned in to puppets of the principals, and that is hindering the school progress as they can't even pick up corruption, consequently we resolved that we want strong SGBs we will support young people as SBGs as they can pick up maladministration.
COSAS in its capacity both as a Progressive Youth Alliance partner to the ANC YL, YCL and SASCO, and as members of the ANC YL debated the issue of leadership in the African National Congress Youth League as it approaches its National Congress in 16-19th June 2011, after we have been closely following the behavior of some individuals in the organization and saw that the ANC YL is weak and have been operating in the pocket of Julius Malema and ilk and the membership in general have been reduced to spectators and praise singers, as decisions are now being taken in posh places by few individuals while ingesting expensive cognacs.
