COSATU backs ANC decisions in North West and Western Cape

The Congress of South African Trade Unions fully supports the decision by the ANC National Executive Committee's decisions to dissolve the North West and Western Cape Provincial Executive Committees.

Strong, democratic and representative provincial and local structures must form the foundations of our revolutionary movement and it is clear that the PECs in these two provinces had lost the confidence and respect of the majority of the membership.

COSATU therefore strongly supports the ANC decision to set up interim task teams in both provinces and hold new elective congresses as soon as possible, to elect new leaderships which have the confidence of the majority of members.

COSATU offers its full support to our ally in the process of reforming the ANC structures in these provinces.
