The Congress of South African Trade Unions welcomes the ruling by a British magistrate that Shrien Dewani can be extradited to South Africa to face charges of murdering his wife in Cape Town, and urges the British Home Secretary to implement the decision without delay.
COSATU totally shares the magistrate's complete confidence in South African justice system and will condemn any move by Dewani's legal team to appeal against the decision. Their entire case is based on a groundless attempt to blacken the reputation of our judicial system and prison service.
He must be brought back to South Africa to stand trial, where his legal team will be given every chance to refute the charges, but ultimately justice will be done.
