FAWU WELCOMES THE RETURN OF VAVI BACK TO OFFICE
The Food and Allied Workers Union (FAWU) welcomes the judgement by Judge President Mojapelo, on the court case brought by NUMSA and FAWU and SAFPU as joined by Vavi, as nothing but confirmation of the need for common-sense to prevail in dealing with the crisis within the Congress of South African Trade unions (COSATU).
We hope that COSATU national Office Bearers (NOBs) and those unions who were part of joinders in support of the NOBs will see it fit to cease with further legal steps, such as making an appeal to this legally-obviously predictable judgement.
Meanwhile, we will encourage Comrade Zweli Vavi to report for duty as soon as his daughter has recovered and as and when he can make some few-hours a day work as an elected General Secretary of the federation.
FAWU will still take legal advice on how to launch a lawsuit to individual leaders of the federation and of supporting affiliated unions should they proceed to make an appeal and take other legally-flawed decisions yet utilizing resources of COSATU to defend such steps.
We call on all workers, members of all COSATU affiliated unions, and the entire working class to defend this working class leader as called upon by those who care about our federation.
