MC says residents will be voting for members of the community who understand their plight

DA unveils councillor candidates who will get things done for 107 wards in Tshwane

21 September 2021

The Democratic Alliance (DA) stands ready to contest every ward in Tshwane and get service delivery on track for its residents as it unveils its’ list of councillor candidates for 107 wards.
Today, I along with the DA Gauteng Provincial Leader, Solly Msimanga MPL, and the DA Gauteng Chairperson, Fred Nel MPL launched the DA’s councillor candidates and the mayoral posters outside Tshwane House.

The residents need to know who they are voting for in their wards, unlike other political parties that are still fighting over their ward councillor candidate nominations, the DA is getting things done.

The DA councillor candidates are members of the community that understand the plight of our residents and share the same vision of ensuring good governance, accountability, and transparency. They are also aware of service delivery issues that are endured by our people daily and are committed to improving their lives.

DA Councillor candidates are tasked with a huge responsibility to spearhead service delivery to the residents of Tshwane. These dedicated councillor candidates have been hard at work on the ground engaging the residents to ensure that the DA gets a majority of 51% to fully implement its manifesto and policies for the benefit of our residents.

Our manifesto focuses on the following; prioritisation of the electrical grid and water infrastructure; providing stringent financial management and oversight; promoting employment and economic growth; enhancing city safety and emergency services; maintaining a clean and protected natural environment; developing road infrastructure, and advance mobility; supporting the vulnerable and providing social relief; modernisation, and digitisation of city processes; promoting good governance and implementing a robust Covid-19 management strategy.

The DA-led City of Tshwane administration will continue cleaning up the mess that has been left by the ANC-led administrator. The City was left in a financial crisis; we inherited a budget deficit of over R4 billion while we left a surplus of R297 million in March 2020.

Since we took over the City from the beginning of November 2020, we have made a great difference by reducing service delivery backlogs, reduced a deficit of R4.3 billion by R3.4 billion and the outstanding deficit of R900 million will be eradicated in the current financial year.

It is evident through the DA’s governance track record that where we govern, we govern better, and we get things done for the benefit of our people.

We appeal to the residents of Tshwane to give us a chance to make the Capital City a great place by voting for us on 1 November.

We have unveiled the faces of our ward councillor candidates as well as our PR councillor candidates, the winds of change and progress are being implemented in Tshwane, we want to continue to harness them with your vote and sail Tshwane into a prosperous future.
