Education dept ordered to release results of 'cheating' matrics
26 January 2016
Polokwane - The North Gauteng High Court Polokwane division has ordered that the matric results of eight pupils, who were linked to the matric cheating scandal in Limpopo, be released.
The pupils - two of whom have since been found guilty for leaking the Life Sciences exam papers - took the education department to court, demanding the immediate release of their matric results, which had been withheld.
The court ordered that the department release the pupils' results by the close of business on Monday.
Meanwhile, a disciplinary hearing was held at the weekend, where two of the pupils were found guilty for their involvement. The others were acquitted. The exam papers were apparently leaked on WhatsApp.
