Criticism of Malema's military training ill-informed - Sisulu

Defence minister says September training is open to youth from all political persuasions

Sisulu invites all leaders of youth organisations to the September special two weeks military training, May 14 2010

In response to opposition parties' ill informed calls that the minister is politicising the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) by allowing members of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) to embark on a special two weeks military training, the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Lindiwe Sisulu said the training is open to youth from all colours and race and of different political affiliation.

"All South African youth of different political affiliation are welcome in the SANDF; the SANDF is a professional non political organisation. We extend the invitation to the September 2010 special two weeks training to all youth organisations in the country," she said.

The national service provided an opportunity for young people to learn practical work skills and personal development. The service allows young people to integrate across racial and cultural differences.
