31 October 2022
A total of 4.35 million two-way passengers passed through the Cape Town International Airport’s (CTIA) domestic terminal in 2022 so far, representing a recovery of 71% for the year to date, when compared to the same period in 2019.
In the month of September, approximately 486 000 two-way domestic and 152 000 international travellers passed through CTIA, representing recovery rates of 66% and 81% respectively, when compared to the same month in 2019.
The findings are included in Wesgro’s monthly tourism report for September 2022, which provides valuable insights into tourism trends in the Western Cape.
“As we gear up for an impressive summer season, these recovery rates are very welcome and expected to only increase going forward. This is why I recently hosted a ‘Summer Readiness Dialogue’ with key stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality sector which focused on key preparations for the upcoming summer season.” said Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities, Mireille Wenger.
