DA cannot win Pretoria alone - FF+

Conrad Beyers says opposition party will need coalition partners to beat ANC

DA CANNOT WIN ALONE IN PRETORIA

The Freedom Front Plus in Pretoria said that no single opposition party can beat the ANC alone in the coming municipal election, but that it is possible for a coalition of parties to win the election.

The FF Plus reacted to claims by the DA in the Tshwane metro council that they will win the election alone and said that such false propaganda is detrimental to opposition politics.

According to Dr. Conrad Beyers, FF Plus councillor and chairperson of the party in the metro council, the DA is dishonest by creating the illusion that they do not need other opposition parties in order to win in Pretoria.

"In the 2006 municipal elections the DA received only 30% of the votes and in the 2009 elections the DA support declined to 25% in the Tshwane metro area. The DA will need coalition partners such as the FF Plus and Cope in order to take the city out of the hands of the ANC," Beyers said.

According to the FF Plus the DA's false marketing may lead supporters of other opposition parties to abstain from voting, which means that the ANC might again win the elections.

"In a city council where only the DA and ANC are represented, radical experiments with affirmative action policies will gain ground rapidly as was seen in the past 5 years. Within 5 years there will be no Afrikaans or any minority languages left, besides English, and within 5 years the city's name will change permanently without any resistance. Taxes will increase rapidly as has happened in Cape Town. Voters should choose the party that will carry their values into council - the DA is playing a dangerous game by misleading the voters in this way for short term gain."
