DA's CLAIMS AGAINT PRESIDENT SHAMELESSLY MISLEADING
26 February 2014
The Democratic Alliance's statement today claiming that the President is avoiding to answer three outstanding questions from the interrupted sitting of August 2014 is nonsensical and baseless.
Despite the disruption of his response to oral questions in the National Assembly, the President has, consistent with his commitment to accountability, ensured that all outstanding questions are responded to. He has since submitted to Parliament written responses to all the outstanding questions, which were from MPs Hope Malgas (ANC), Alfred Mncwango (IFP) and Nhlanhla Khubisa (NFP). The President has offered the written replies even though, in terms of the rules of Parliament, those questions have since lapsed.
By taking an initiative to provide written responses to questions which he was denied an opportunity to orally reply to in the House, the President has ensured that his accountability to Parliament and the people of South Africa is not hindered by the unfortunate August 2014 disruption.
In this regard, we dismiss the DA's shamelessly misleading propaganda with the contempt it deserves.
