DA condemns ANC violence against our members – Refiloe Nt’sekhe

DA condemns ANC violence against our members

4 October 2021

The Democratic Alliance (DA) condemns the violent attack by the ANC on DA members who were out canvassing in Ward 57 Phola Park in Ekurhuleni.  See video here.

Yesterday, DA activists were manhandled and violently stripped of their t-shirts. The DA regalia was then set on fire by ANC members.

The political intolerance demonstrated by the ANC shows how desperate they have become to maintain power that they would stoop to threatening our activists.

No political party has the right to strip a person nor deny their right to freely campaign.

The DA condemns the violence shown to our activists in ward 57 and challenge the leadership of the ANC to provide leadership in curbing such incidents.

Further to this, the DA will lay a complaint with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) against the ANC and request them to act against such political intolerance.

It is clear that following 27 years of service delivery failures and rampant corruption the people of Ekurhuleni are rejecting them and now their only solution is to stop the DA from campaigning.
