DA deputy mayor quits over mistreatment by white bosses - ANC WCape

Marius Fransman says a number of the party's other councillors are preparing to resign as well

DA implosion as more councillors jump ship

The ANC in the Western Cape has learned that two more Overberg councillors of the DA today resigned with immediate effect. This is the next of a whole wave of DA defections of late.

In the unstable Theewaterskloof municipality deputy mayor MLulami Tshaka summarily resigned due to the bad treatment he received from especially the DA’s white bosses. Tshaka was the Grabouw Ward 13 councillor and that means the DA will have to defend another by-election. It is said that Tshaka leaves politics altogether.

Cape Agulhas municipality’s Ward 1 (Elim) councillor Warnick October also could not stand the DA arrogance and ill-treatment any longer. He had enough and left.

ANC Western Cape leader Marius Fransman says: “The ANC welcomes the resignation and integrity of these councillors. We heard the same message repeatedly by so many public representatives that left that party which only looks after white interests and big business.”

The ANC will in due time pronounce on this trend. It is also known that a number of other senior councillors are also getting their affairs in order to resign too.
