3 September 2024
It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we have learnt today of the passing of Gregory Krumbock, a dedicated Member of Parliament, the Democratic Alliance's National Campaign Manager for the last two elections, a visionary strategist and a stalwart of the Democratic Alliance. Greg was not just a colleague; he was a friend, a mentor, and a passionate advocate for democracy in South Africa.
Greg's journey with the DA and its predecessor, the Democratic Party, spanned over three decades. His commitment to our values was unwavering, and his contributions to our cause were immeasurable. As the Executive Director of the Democratic Party in 1998, Greg played a pivotal role in managing the party’s 1999 General Election Campaign, laying the groundwork for our successes in the following years.
Born on July 17, 1960, Greg’s life was marked by a relentless pursuit of justice and equality. His early involvement in the Progressive Federal Party youth, his tireless work in by-elections, and his eventual rise to serve as a Member of Parliament representing Mpumalanga and later KwaZulu-Natal, all reflect his deep-rooted commitment to creating a better South Africa.
Greg’s tenure as the Shadow Minister of Tourism from 2009 to 2012 highlighted his innovative spirit and his ability to bring fresh perspectives to the table. He was a forward-thinker, always looking for ways to enhance our nation’s standing on the global stage and to improve the lives of South Africans.
