DA not the SACP's travel agency - NUMSA

Castro Ngobese says the opposition is motivated by a pathological hatred of the Party

DA should stop behaving like a Travelling Agency service provider of the SACP!

3 February 2011

The NATIONAL UNION OF METALWORKERS OF SOUTH AFRICA (Numsa) is not surprised by the insinuations made by the extreme right-wing and anti-communist Democratic Alliance that the SACP delegation which had travelled to Cuba went there at state expense. The DA is linking the visit by the SACP General Secretary, in his capacity as Higher Education & Training Minister Cde Blade Nzimande to Cuba and the political exchange visit of SACP and trade unionists delegation to Cuba.

We are aware of the DA's deep hatred of the SACP and given the ideological standing of the SACP. This deep hatred of the SACP by the DA is not new. In facts it's reminiscent of the old National Party (NP) hatred of the SACP, which led to the banning of the SACP in 1950, under the Suppression of Communism Act, and torturing and killing of many Communists activists in the Congress Alliance, such as Johannes Nkosi and Vuyisile Mini, for furthering the aims of Communism in our country. The killing of the late SACP General Secretary Cde Chris Hani still rings fresh in our minds. Cde Hani was killed by right-wingers, who have now found a political home in the DA, who are continuing spewing cheap anti-communist propaganda intended to poison the minds of our people, and liquidate the SACP alive.

The SACP remains a target to the DA, as it was to the NP during the struggle for liberation and freedom. The NP failed to liquidate the SACP. It failed to bury the political programme of the SACP of building a socialist South Africa. The SACP is held in high esteem by the people of South Africa, especially the working class and the poor. The working class and the poor knows that the only political party that can overthrow the current dictatorship of the bourgeoisie and replace it with the dictatorship of the working class is the SACP, because it is only through the dictatorship of the working class, that we can fundamentally change the living conditions of the working class, to end poverty, class inequalities and exploitation caused by the barbaric and evil capitalist system so revered by the DA; and to create an egalitarian society of true equals.

The DA should stop behaving like a travelling agency service provider of the SACP by making cheap gossip to destroy the moral standing of the SACP and its leadership. The SACP trips or political programmes are funded by the members of the SACP and through donations by the trade union movement, solicited through the hard labour of workers at the point of production. Therefore the SACP, including its General Secretary can visit any like-minded socialist or progressive countries or party organs, as part of deepening and advancing our revolution.

The DA should join the frontline struggle to end the illegal and evil economic blockade imposed on Cuba and her people by their payroll masters at the White House. The Cubans remain our reliable allies and hence we applauded President Jacob Zuma for writing-off the Cuban debt. The Cubans fought and died for the liberation of Southern Africa, including South Africa. The Cubans continue making strategic interventions for our country, by training poor young South Africans in the field of medicine at no cost. Unlike DA's friends in the West who perpetuate wars and violence in poor countries of the world.
