The DA in North West is encouraged by the expressed support received from residents of Lichtenburg, Coligny, and Itsoseng during our campaign engagements over the last month, ahead of Wednesday 14 December’s by-election.

Across 20 Wards, our canvassing, our voter engagements, public meetings, townhalls, rallies, and events have drawn enormous public support for the DA.

The wave of support being pledged to the DA is greater than ever before and is setting up next Wednesday to be a two-horse race between the DA, and the ANC, to determine the future of Ditsobotla.

Our campaign and resident interactions have shown us that strong DA support on Wednesday can push the ANC below 50% in the Municipality. In last year’s local government elections, the ANC could only garner 51% of the vote in the Municipality, and since then ANC support has continued to decline.

Residents are fed-up with the ANC’s failed governance in Ditsobotla over the last three decades and have voiced this louder and more vociferously than ever before.

The ANC has brought about 29 interventions into Ditsobotla since 2000 and every single intervention has failed, leaving the municipality in a worse position each time towards its ultimate collapse 22 years later. The ANC has only delivered a collapse in governance, a collapse in service delivery, and a collapse of infrastructure while promoting fraud, corruption, and theft.

On the other hand, the DA’s track record in local government, from Cape Town in the Western Cape to Midvaal in Gauteng, uMngeni in KwaZulu-Natal, and Modimolle-Mookgophong in Limpopo, among 30 other thriving DA local governments, shows that where we govern, the DA gets things done.

Only the DA is ready to bring experience and good governance, with a service delivery track record to the residents of Ditsobotla. As our campaign enters its final 5 days the DA stands ready to contest on Wednesday with everything we have, so that we can begin rebuilding Ditsobotla with a mandate from voters.

We look forward to next Wednesday’s by-election and call on all residents to go and vote the ANC out by voting DA, and uniting to win.
