DA uses presidential hotline to complain about Ngobeni

After 80 minutes of waiting opposition is able to register complaint

DA registers first complaint with hotline, after 80 minutes of holdin

The DA registered its first complaint today with the Presidential hotline, requesting an investigation into the appointment of Paul Ngobeni as a legal advisor to the Minister of Defence, Lindiwe Sisulu. It took 80 minutes and six phone calls.

Ngobeni is a fugitive from justice in the State of Connecticut in America, and there are great many questions about how he qualified as a public servant and passed the requisite vetting procedure.

The person who registered the complaint was quite taken aback at the details of the case and expressed that the man [Ngobeni] should not be practicing and should be arrested, going so far as to say "he should be in jail".

However, it was a nightmare to register the complaint. The details are as follows:

  • First call: 10.08 am - 10.24 am: (put on hold for 16 minutes, then cut off with the message "we are extremely busy at the moment, please try again later")
  • Second call: 10.33 am - 10.49 am: (same result)
  • Third call: 10.50 am - 11.07 am: (same result)
  • Fourth call: 11.11 am - 11.22 am: (same result)
  • Fifth call: 12.00 pm - 12.12 pm: (same result)
  • Sixth call: 12.13 pm: got through: (person was helpful and efficient)

These are just the connected calls, it is worth mentioning that we also tried in excess of a dozen other times to get through, but the line was engaged.

We were told the Presidency would revert to us with a reference number. We are still waiting for this return call.

We have three other complaints to register today.

DA parliamentary leader Athol Trollip will be issuing a full list of all complaints laid by the DA on Friday each week.
