Rejection of Davids' parole sends right message
The Democratic Alliance (DA) welcomes the rejection of the parole application of Nurshad Davids, who was convicted in 2006 for his role in the brutal murder of Brett Goldin and Richard Bloom.
South Africans need to feel safe in their homes and on the streets. They need to know that criminals will be caught and be punished.
The refusal of parole sends the appropriate message that we regard cold-blooded murder as an offence for which a long period of imprisonment is the only fitting punishment.
Statement issued by James Selfe MP, DA Shadow Minister of Correctional Services, November 17 2011
