Daily Sun (July 9 2014) - COPS hunted Jozi FM DJ Donald Duck Sebolai all over Mzansi. But he was hiding not far from where his girlfriend was killed.
He was bust yesterday, hiding his face in a hoodie. The radio man known popularly as Donald Duck has been on the run for a week.
His lover, Rachel "Dolly" Tshabalala (32), was stabbed to death in his flat in Soweto's Jabulani. As he was led to the Jabulani Police Station cells he looked shaken rather than remorseful or guilty. Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said cops were tipped off on Sunday night that he was hiding at a friend's house in Dube.
Makhubela said Soweto vehicle investigation unit members kept a close watch on the house until they spotted the DJ. "The suspect was arrested in Ncube Street at about 10.30am. He was driving in a vehicle with a friend, allegedly on their way to Pretoria," said Makhubela.
He said the suspect was trying to hide his face in a hooded jacket when cops cornered the car.
"The suspect didn't resist arrest when officers approached him." Donald was taken to Jabulani Police Station and booked for murder. The SunTeam was there when he was taken to the cells.
Looking worried, Donald asked photographers when they were going to stop snapping him.
Makhubela said: "His friend could be charged as an accomplice.
"We would like to thank the community for all their help. Without them we couldn't have arrested the suspect."
Nonhlanhla Mkhize (32), Dolly's friend, said: "I am happy Donald is behind bars. Justice can finally be served." Nkatheko Mashele (33), another of Dolly's friends, said:
"We hope to get answers and closure now. We were living in fear because he was roaming the streets. We can move forward knowing that her soul will rest in peace."
Jozi FM's Mpho Mhlongo said they were relieved to learn of the arrest and that it was "regrettable" Donald hadn't handed himself over.
"We hope the authorities will move with speed to bring the matter to trial and finality," he said.
Donald will appear in the Protea Magistrates Court soon.
