Gauteng Provincial Government appoints new Head of Department of Health

Gauteng Premier David Makhura has appointed Dr Barney Selebano as the new Head of Department of Health.

Dr Selebano is a qualified medical professional and has held various senior positions in the public and private sector. Until his appointment he was the Deputy Director General: Clinical Services. He was also the acting Head of Department from October 2014 to end of May 2015.

Dr Selebano holds a BSC Honours in biochemistry from the University of Limpopo, MBCHB from MEDUNSA and a Management Advancement Programme from the University of the Witwatersrand.

The appointment of Dr Selebano will stabilize the department, strengthen its leadership and ensure achievement of better health outcomes in the Province.
