ECape reshuffle a breath of fresh air - SACP

Xolile Nqata says changes are aimed at confronting structural problems

SACP EASTERN CAPE PRESS STATEMENT ON CABINET CHANGES

The SACP wishes to welcome the re-configuration and cabinet reshuffle of the Eastern Cape Provincial  Government  as announced by the Premier comrade Noxolo Kiviet today the 27th of November 2010. We congratulate all the appointed comrades and wish them all the best in their deployments.

In the same vein, we wish to salute the ANC leadership for the consultative manner in which the whole issue was handled, both the process and the outcome was not the ideal but constituted an important step in the workings of alliance and stabilization of the province.

This indeed is a breath of fresh air for our province after we have blindly continued for more than a decade with a government structure that has year in year out left the majority of workers and the poor in degrading conditions of poverty and unemployment.

We have sought to change faces more for factional reasons living the structural problems intact.  It has been the changing of the bottle with the same medicine hence economic  conditions of people have not changed  16 years of democracy. It is an important break with the style of leadership that was exclusive and not committed to genuine consultation as part of how the alliance should be functioning.

We specifically welcome the establishment of the Planning and Finance Ministry in the face of a dysfunctional provincial state we have experienced over the years so that we put together a longer term development plan of province rooted in the new growth path as recently announced by the national government.

As the SACP, we are of the firm view that at the centre of this planning ministry will be to ensure tighter government co-ordination, monitoring, evaluation and better effective utilization of the government resources with the elimination of the wastage we have experienced over the last 16 years.

As the SACP, we wish to commit ourselves to support the comrades who have been appointed and calling for urgent provincial platform to prepare for the coming years with the resolutions of provincial alliance commitments being the bedrock of our way to the new year.

The SACP will make its contribution to take us to a new way of doing things for the better and calling upon our people to support the provincial government in the efforts of building a province worth to be proud of.
