"Flabba's last hours!" - Daily Sun

"Brother: I found his body on the floor with stab wounds in his chest..." - front page lead, March 10 2015

Daily Sun (March 10 2015) - IT HAD been a great weekend for rapper Flabba.

He had successful shows on Friday and Saturday and a birthday party for his friend Shugasmakx, on Sunday afternoon.

BUT DEATH WAS WAITING FOR FLABBA IN HIS BEDROOM IN THE EARLY HOURS OF MONDAY MORNING.

Flabba had done Live Amp, an all-star show on SABC1 on Friday night, performing with Mahoota, Vetkuk and Cassper Nyovest.

On Saturday night he rocked the crowd at the Axecess Jozi event in Mary Fitzgerald Square, Jozi. Performing with him were DJ Sliqe, Riky Rick, Kwesta and American stars Kid Ink, Rae Sremmurd and SchoolboyQ.

On Sunday afternoon they had a birthday party at The Sands in Sandton.

The party was for Shugasmakx, a founder member of the group Skwatta Kamp.

"We were all happy," said Shugasmakx.

"We had a great time together with other group members on Sunday night."

But when they got home, Flabba and his girlfriend were fighting.

Flabba's younger brother, Luyanda Sulupha (22) told Daily Sun Flabba and his girlfriend returned home arguing.

"We heard them shouting and arguing," said Luyanda.

"We didn't intervene because we thought it was something they could sort out themselves.

"There was no sign of violence."

Later he saw Flabba's girlfriend locking herself in the bedroom.

"My brother pleaded with her to open the door but she refused.

I knocked on the window for her to open for my brother," he said.

"She opened the door and they went into the bedroom and the house was quiet. Then we heard the girlfriend screaming."

Flabba's other brother, Tshepang Habebi (27) said he was woken by the noise of the screaming girlfriend.

"Luyanda said my brother was dead."

"I went into his bedroom and found his body on the floor with two stab wounds in his chest."

He said the death of his brother, born Nkululeko Habedi, was a great shock.

"I can't believe he is gone! The family is devastated. Our hearts are torn apart," he said.

Shugasmakx said he learned the shocking news from the family, who called him.

"Flabba's death has left the group in pain. I have known him since I was 14 years old. We grew up together. He was like my blood brother."

A media release by Skwatta Kamp reads: "As a member of the group and solo hip hop artist, he leaves behind a worthy legacy."

Flabba's girlfriend has been arrested and is currently behind bars.

Gauteng police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Katlego Mogale confirmed the incident.

She said police were called to the scene where a 38-year old man had been killed. Upon arrival, they found the well-known musician, Nkululeko Habedi. The dead man was found to have been stabbed to death. The suspect was arrested on the scene. She will appear in the Alexandra Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
