JOINT STATEMENT ON THE GAUTENG FREEWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AND E-TOLLING SYSTEM

The leadership of the African National Congress and the Congress of South African Trade Unions met today, 26 April, to receive a report from the Task Team on the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP).

The leadership has collectively agreed to postpone the implementation of the e-toll collection system by a month. This will give the task team more time to explore alternative funding mechanisms.

We are all encouraged by the progress made so far.
